Dear Job Seekers,
Here is some great advice.
Sincerely,
HH Staffing Services
For this blog we compiled advice for job seekers straight from our recruiting team. We each thought of one piece of guidance that we would give to candidates and have come up with a comprehensive list. Though these are not necessarily novel ideas, we do think these insights will be helpful to you.
Without further a-do, here is our recruiter’s advice for job seekers.
Be Responsive
When seeking employment, make yourself available for calls, diligently check emails and do your best to respond promptly. Don’t just apply and fly. It drives us nuts! Additionally if your recruiter requests something from you (i.e. work references) we strongly suggest that you follow up at your earliest convenience.
Be Patient
Finding a job simply does not happen overnight. It’s a process. Many of our candidates expect to find work immediately and get frustrated when they don’t. With persistence and patience you will find a career you enjoy. Nothing worth having comes easily, as they say.
Be Strong
Attitude plays a huge part in job seeking, as it does in everyday life. If you continue to say to yourself, “I am never going to get a job. No one will ever hire me,” it may become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Keep negative self-talk to a minimum and try to find a mantra to motivate you.
Dress For Success
This phrase, though cliché, is very essential for job seekers and it is often overlooked. Make sure you are not only presentable on the outside, but on the inside as well. When interviewing, leave your problems at home and come in with a smile, even if it’s forced. We also suggest you pay attention to your general hygiene. Need we say more?
Be Prepared
Being prepared seems simple enough, but our candidates often come in without everything they need. Bring the proper identification with you, extra copies of your completed resume, and pay attention to your recruiter’s instructions. We recommend you take job seeking as seriously as if you are working already.
Sell Yourself
Do not approach your job search with the idea that you just need work to pay your bills, even if that’s the truth. You need to show your recruiter that you actually want to work. Have pride in yourself and your abilities. Show your talent and skills related to the job for which you are applying.
We wish you the best of luck with your job search. Keep these points in mind and you are sure to be successful. Don’t give up!
