Do you feel completely defeated by the time Wednesday rolls around? If you’re struggling to make it through the work week and dread the mid-week slump, it may be time to shift gears. Fortunately, there are some easy ways to better navigate the middle of the week, just when you feel like giving up and throwing in the towel. Here are three of the best ways to pull yourself out of a mid-week slump:
Set mid-week goals.
Sometimes setting one or two mid-week goals can give you just the motivation you need to stay productive and keep going. For instance, instead of setting all your weekly goals on Mondays, consider setting one new goal on Wednesday that you’d like to accomplish by Friday. While this may be a smaller, micro-sized goal, it can help you stay engaged in your work in a meaningful way, without falling off the bandwagon as the week goes on. Writing down a mid-week goal – and devising a plan to reach it – is often a powerful way to end the week on a high note.
Make time to be social.
If your weekdays consist solely of going to work and home, you’re likely going to burn out quickly. Taking time to socialize can do wonders for your health and well-being, giving you outlets to connect with others and reduce your stress. From group hobbies to dinners with friends, there are many ways to incorporate some fun in your week, even during the most stressful days. The key is to schedule social outings ahead of time so these commitments are on your calendar. Even just one or two activities with friends or family members can lift your spirits and give you something to look forward to during the week.
Clear the clutter.
Are there piles of papers, clutter, and trash all over your desk by mid-week? It’s amazing how many things can accumulate in a workspace in just a couple days! Rather than wait to do an end-of-week clean-up, consider decluttering a bit sooner. Clutter in any form can cause stress, overwhelm, and anxiety, causing you to feel anxious and disoriented in your work environment. Taking time to clear out your workspace during the week will allow you to feel more in control of your work, increasing your productivity and giving you a renewed sense of clarity.
These are just three ways to pull yourself out of a mid-week slump – while having some fun along the way!
