What’s So Bad About Job Seeking?

Bad about Job SeekingYou mean besides everything? Just kidding – kind of!

The other day one of our team members was at a job fair. Though she enjoyed meeting everyone there and explaining how the company works to match talent with employers, she felt fortunate to be on the other side. She noted she’d much rather be on the employed side vs. the job seeker side.

So, what exactly is so bad about job seeking? 71% of workers admit to be actively job seeking. Well, the process is humbling and anxiety inducing. It’s all pretty frustrating and nerve-wracking; ultimately it’s a means to an end. Are you bad about job seeking? Most of us are!

However, you don’t have to do it alone. The team at HH Staffing can help!

Misrepresentation

Weeding through the thousands of job descriptions out there is a chore. Just like you try to upsell some of the skills on your resume, companies do it, too. Often things sound a lot more impressive than they are in reality, things are easily misrepresented, and tasks are glamourized. We bridge the gap by understanding the needs of both employers and job seekers.

Expectations

Expectations can be skewed during your job search as well. Try to understand exactly what the employer is looking for and in turn articulate your wants and desires. Show them what you are capable of and how you can make a positive impact on their organization. We can be the mediator between you, as we see things from the outside, with both parties interest in mind.

Feeling Fake

When job seeking, do you feel like you suffer from imposter syndrome? Maybe you have accomplished a lot of great things professionally, but you still feel like you’re a fraud. This is something you need to get over in order to be successful. Fake it until you make it. We all feel like phonies inside sometimes, trust us.

Making small talk with hiring managers can seem tedious, particularly when you simply need a chance to show them what you have to offer. Working with a recruiter can make things much easier. Our established relationships are what set us apart.

Lack of Control

A lot of things are out of your control completely in your job search. Often, it takes weeks to hear back on a job inquiry or an interview, and sometimes, hiring managers don’t get back to you at all. Our recruiters can help you and assist you in getting feedback from the decision makers. 90% of recruiters say they prefer to hire active candidates.
